Reporting to the Chief Customer Officer, the Senior Director, Expansion Sales will lead the North American expansion sales team focused on driving growth within our customer base. You will support the management team by hiring great talent, driving accountability, forecasting, and coaching. You will lead an organization of 48 AEs, 2 second line leaders, and 5 managers. This role's scope will grow throughout the year and will include adding additional teams.

You will build on our inclusive environment while instilling operational rigor into the business. An emphasis on data-driven forecasting, analyzing the effectiveness of sales and marketing strategies, and partnering with your Ops team to maintain a robust reporting infrastructure are all core requirements of the role. You will partner with our Sales Strategy and Ops team to develop the sales strategy for this sales motion focused on near-term optimization and long-term growth. You will be a coach and a mentor, set the tone and culture, and drive results. You will cultivate a team culture aligned with SurveyMonkey's core values with a focus on revenue achievement, accountability, operational excellence, and teamwork.

What you'll be working on

  • Lead the NA Expansion Sales team, driving the teams to hit their monthly and annual goals.
  • Manage a high-growth organization and set sales strategies and programs to achieve account and revenue goals
  • Use data to guide your management of the business including business planning, evaluation of key performance metrics, accurate summaries and analysis of activity, results and forecasts.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for the Sales team, including mentoring and development to drive quota attainment.
  • Hold leaders and individual contributors accountable to their commitments while cultivating an inclusive and high performing team culture. Work with our partners in Marketing, Product, PMM, Solutions Engineering, Professional Services, Legal, Finance, and Sales Ops to understand and implement initiatives to increase pipeline and bookings, differentiate our solutions, and improve the effectiveness and productivity of the team.
  • Provide strategic guidance and insight to the team and business about market trends and customer attitudes.
  • Emphasize the importance of data-hygiene by promoting use of our CRM in tracking leads, pipeline, deal structure, and wins.
  • Foster continuous improvement; ensure that all sales activities (sales calls, pipeline development, account planning, customer account reviews, close cycles, etc.) are effective and scalable.
  • Provide regular, data-based updates to the sales leadership team and executive partners regarding progress against quota attainment, team performance, and any challenges or roadblocks.

We'd love to hear from people with

  • 10+ years' sales leadership experience, leading a 25+ person organization of Account Managers
  • Domain expertise in SaaS.
  • People leadership skills and a desire to set the tone and culture of our growing sales team.
  • A data-driven approach to decision-making; experience using Salesforce to manage the business, including team sales tasks, pipeline, and closing data.
  • Experience building a go-to-market strategy and sales plan, establishing a new sales motion, and building a culture of operational excellence.
  • 5+ years of experience as an account manager

The base pay and on-target commission provided for this position ranges from $302,855 / year - $409,745 / year depending on the geographic market and assuming a full-time schedule. Actual base pay is based on a number of factors including market location, job-related knowledge, education or training, skills, and experience.

Bonuses and commissions may also be offered as part of the total compensation package, in addition to a competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance; 401(k) retirement plan; flexible spending & health savings account; paid holidays; paid time off; employee assistance program; and other company benefits.
